The Livescribe 2GB Pulse Smartpen is capable of recording up to 200 hours of audio and linking this audio to your notes. Using an infrared camera and a microphone, the pen automatically records everything that is said, written, or drawn. Once you are finished taking notes, you can easily upload them to your computer and share them or search for specific words within these notes.
This device is suitable for students and professionals like doctors, nurses, lawyers, and businesses people that have to constantly take notes during hearings, meetings, and interviews. The Livescribe 2GB Pulse Smartpen box comes with a 3D recording headset, which permits remote and stereo recording, USB charging cradle, two spare cartridges, starter dot paper notebook, and a “getting started” guide.
Using the Livescribe 2GB Pulse Smartpen is extremely easy and straightforward – simply tap the start button with the tip of the pen and the device will start recording everything that is written or drawn, as well as audio. When done, tap the stop button and the recording stops. If you want to listen to what was said when you were taking notes, simply tap on a word or drawing and the recorded audio is played back. You can upload your notes to a computer of Mac, using the USB mobile cradle, and once uploaded share the notes either privately or publicly.

Even though the Livescribe 2GB Pulse Smartpen is ideal for the office or smaller conference rooms, when used in big student halls, it might not properly record everything that is being said; it might also pick noises from computers and other devices, which can lead to poor quality audio. Once you have your notes recorded, you can easily upload the m to your PC, but the audio and the text files aren’t automatically converted to standard file formats; in order to do so, you have to use the tools, available at the manufacturer’s website. The software that comes with this Smartpen has quite a few limitations – you cannot edit parts of a page and reorganizing your pages is not possible either, unless you convert them into other file formats first.
Livescribe 2GB Pulse Smartpen is the perfect device for people who attend a lot of meetings – it is extremely easy to use, it captures all your writings and audio, it has good battery life, it is easy to charge, and ultimately can save you a lot of time and you will never miss anything that was said during a meeting!
